Louisa Bell started her doctoral position at GERICS in August 2018, which is based on a collaboration between GERICS and the Meteorological Institute of the University of Hamburg. The thesis is part of the project „Detaillierte Einflüsse der winterlichen Klimaänderung im Stadtklima Hamburgs“ and will therefore deal with climate change related impacts on the city of Hamburg with focus on winter. This includes the quantification of temperature and precipitation changes on the city level using regional and local climate model results. For this purpose a new method wiĺl be developed by Louisa, to transfer information from global climate model projections to a microscale model. With this new method, impacts on the city infrastructure and the effects of adaptation measures can then be investigated.
Before her time at GERICS, Louisa did her B.Sc. in physical oceanography and got a broader and more interdisciplinary overview on the climate system during her M.Sc. in Integrated Climate System Sciences, which she did as well as her B.Sc. here in Hamburg.
