Dr Louis Celliers is the coordinating scientist of an ERA4CS-funded project entitled INNOVA. The vision of INNOVA is to transform climate-related data into customized products such as projections, forecasts, information, trends, economic analysis, assessments (including technology assessment), counselling on best practices, development and evaluation of solutions and any other service in relation to climate that may be of use for the society at large.

Louis is a coastal and marine scientist with professional interests including socio-ecology, trans-disciplinary research, science to policy processes and conversion; integrated coastal management, adaptive management, coastal and marine governance and institutions, climate change adaptation and knowledge negotiation. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association, and on the Management and Steering Committee member of the global GEO Blue Planet initiative.

Louis received his PhD from the University of Natal, South Africa (2001). He was previously employed by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR, South Africa) as a Principal Researcher and as Research Group Leader of the Coastal Systems research group.
