I am Dr. Ksenia Gorges, a scientist at Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon since April 2022. My research interests lie at the intersection of climate science, data analysis, and software development. I specialize in data analysis and visualization to derive insights and support data-driven decision-making. My role involves managing product visions and roadmaps, as well as developing interactive dashboards for complex scientific data presentation.

Currently, I'm developing prototype AI chatbots within the company, reflecting my passion for service-oriented projects and enhancing end-user convenience. This work allows me to combine my technical expertise with my interest in creating user-friendly solutions.

From 2013 to 2019, I worked at the German Climate Computing Centre (DKRZ) in Hamburg, where I was instrumental in developing scientific software to support climate research activities. During this time, I coordinated the HD(CP)2 project and collaborated closely with numerous scientific partner groups across Germany. My work contributed to providing data foundations for German IPCC reports.

I received my PhD in 2008 from the University of Potsdam, focusing on "Atmospheric circulation and surface mass balance in a regional model of Antarctica." I also hold a Master's degree in Hydrometeorology from the Russian State Hydrometeorological University in St. Petersburg and a diploma in TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving).

Beyond my scientific work, I volunteer in early education, teaching schoolchildren about creative problem-solving. I've served as a jury member for the IEEE SciVis Contest and have published a book on surface mass balance in a regional climate model of Antarctica.

My experience spans various project management methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, which I've implemented in scientific research contexts. Throughout my career, I've maintained a strong focus on user-centric approaches and service-oriented solutions, always striving to improve the end-user experience in my projects.
