Abhinav Dengri is a Postdoctoral researcher at the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS), where he will contribute to the “Uncertain Water Resources under Global Change” (UwaRes) project. His research focuses on understanding freshwater resource availability for the agricultural sector amid the challenges posed by climate change and the competing demands of various sectors.
Abhinav earned his Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Field Engineering for the Environment from Hokkaido University, Japan. His PhD research centred on summer season soil moisture dynamics, especially the bimodal soil moisture distributions and their connections to land-atmosphere interactions and irrigation. To investigate these processes, he developed a statistical algorithm for detecting bimodal distributions in soil moisture datasets, developed a land-vegetation-atmosphere feedback analytical model, and studied irrigation’s influence on soil moisture dynamics using observational data and land surface modelling.
